These easy garden updates will completely transform your outdoor space
If you’re lucky enough to have a garden of your own, you’ll know that it’s become a source of solace throughout lockdown. With up to four people from two households allowed to meet outdoors from tomorrow, chances are, after the long winter, that you’re considering giving your outdoor space a bit of an overhaul to make a nicer place to entertain.
Scotland has an abundance of talented garden designers and space makers to help transform your patch. We’re currently swooning over the work of award-winning Susie Coupar, The Lady Gardener who is based in East Lothian. With three tiny tots under four and a relocation to North Berwick, when it was time to return to work, Susie decided to ditch her big job in financial services and pursue a career in something she absolutely adores – gardening. Check out her Instagram for lots of inspiration for large or small garden changes and updates.
Susie has a great network of creative and trade partners which led us to the work of Rob Moon from Good With Space. Rob takes outdoor spaces that simply don’t work (we’ve got a few of those) and creates beautiful solutions that mean you get most out of the garden you have. Garden office, practical but stylish decking or how about an all-weather seating area all things we have started to lust after having been stuck indoors all winter.
If you do decide to invest in your outdoor space make sure you do plenty of research into the team you choose to work with. Get recommendations, look for examples of their work online so you know their aesthetic matches yours.
And for those of us who aren’t green-fingered, or don’t have the budget for external help this year, there are countless easy garden updates you can make that don’t require heavy lifting or excessive painting. Keep scrolling to discover three ways to elevate your garden, whatever its size or aesthetic.
