Laings Unveils Spectacular New Flagship Store

This June saw a significant milestone for luxury family jeweller Laings, as it officially opened its stunning new flagship store on Buchanan Street in Glasgow. The grand opening of this multi-floor retail space in the iconic B-listed Rowan House follows a remarkable £5 million transformation, offering a premier luxury shopping experience.

Occupying over 7,000 square feet across two floors, the revamped showroom invites clients into the opulent world of Laings. The ground floor is a haven for luxury watch enthusiasts, featuring prestigious brands such as Rolex, Patek Philippe, and TAG Heuer, alongside Laings’ own pre-owned range. A striking photographic timeline on this level chronicles the legacy of the six generations of Laings who have grown and evolved the business since its inception in 1840.

Rolex aficionados will appreciate the elegantly designed spaces on the ground floor, including an abstract stucco wall art interpretation of a Rolex Oyster case. The first floor further enhances the experience with a Rolex library and lounge, as well as a VIP room for private viewings, reflecting the brand's heritage and exclusivity.

The showroom's interior is meticulously designed with a harmonious blend of walnut counters, brass frames, and leather furnishings, providing a sophisticated backdrop to Laings’ extensive jewellery collection showcased on the first floor. This area features the bespoke Family Collection, dedicated to the Laing family women, alongside the Hero of Bespoke collection, dedicated services area, and private consultation rooms.

An exclusive space on the first floor, designed in collaboration with a local interior designer, is reserved for special events and private client meetings. This intimate area is adorned with wallpaper from Glasgow’s renowned Timorous Beasties, dark wood parquet flooring, and features a large dining table, sideboard, and bar, further elevating the luxury experience.

Laings' new headquarters occupy the building’s top four floors, including the newly launched Laings Service Centre. This state-of-the-art facility houses 20 skilled watchmakers, technicians, polishers, and quality control specialists, authorised to service brands such as Patek Philippe, TAG Heuer, Longines, and OMEGA. Additionally, the building boasts a Rolex Authorised Service Centre, offering a modern destination for all timepiece servicing needs.

Significant attention has been given to restoring Rowan House to its former glory, retaining original features like the full-height feature window and marble façade, while integrating contemporary elements. The transformation was executed by Laings' in-house team in partnership with shopfitters Esprit UK.

Laings' relocation from its previous home of over 50 years in Argyll Arcade to Buchanan Street has created four new roles, bringing the showroom staff total to 30. CEO Joe Walsh expressed pride and optimism for the future, stating, “Today represents a momentous occasion for Laings—as a family and a business. This opening marks the next significant step in our journey, ensuring top-quality service and client experiences across our UK locations.”

To celebrate the opening, Laings has adorned the building’s façade with an exquisite floral display by Scottish premier florist Wild Flower, inspired by the jeweller's Summer Campaign. Visitors during the opening weekend can enjoy this vibrant installation and receive Laings bouquets from a branded flower cart at the store's entrance.
