Strathberry Opens a New Luxury Boutique in Edinburgh’s Iconic Old Town

Edinburgh’s Old Town has welcomed a new addition to its historic, cobbled streets, as Strathberry unveils its latest boutique on Victoria Street. Famed for its vibrant facades and independent shops, this iconic location feels like a natural home for the luxury accessories brand, which has deep roots in the city.

This marks Strathberry’s second Edinburgh store, complementing its Multrees Walk boutique in the city’s New Town, which opened in 2020. The new space embodies a contemporary yet inviting charm, immersing visitors in the essence of Strathberry’s refined craftsmanship and understated luxury. A seamless blend of Scottish heritage and modern design, it offers an inspiring setting to explore the brand’s signature collections.

A Contemporary Space with Scottish Heritage at its Heart

Designed in collaboration with DRAW Creative Designtive.co.uk/, the boutique reflects the concept of the ‘Strathberry Lounge’—a warm and welcoming space that brings an essence of the brand’s iconic Edinburgh Townhouse HQ to the retail landscape. It’s a home away from home, layered with rich textures, soft lighting, and an inviting palette of oak and brass finishes. High ceilings and restored period details, including a traditional Scottish cast iron fireplace sourced by founders Guy and Leeanne Hundleby, honour the building’s original architecture while infusing it with a sense of contemporary luxury.

Sustainability is at the core of the design. Thoughtfully sourced materials—such as natural cork wall panelling and bespoke feature tables crafted by carbon-neutral enterprise Marmo Lusso—underscore Strathberry’s commitment to responsible craftsmanship. A carefully curated mix of freestanding furniture and handcrafted details adds character, while the store’s striking window display celebrates the art of making, with miniature artisans showcasing the intricate craftsmanship behind each handbag.

A Celebration of Art and Culture

Art and design are intrinsic to Strathberry’s DNA, and the new boutique is no exception. As part of its ongoing collaborations with Scottish artisans, the brand has commissioned local artist Hayley McCrirrick to create bespoke wall art inspired by Strathberry’s signature colourways. The piece, framed in locally sourced Scottish oak, brings warmth and a tangible sense of place to the space.

“Working with Strathberry felt like a very natural collaboration, with a shared appreciation for craftsmanship and attention to detail,” says McCrirrick. “The artwork I created ties the natural landscape with the earthy colour palette featured throughout the handbag range.”

Customers will also find a personalisation area where they can customise their Strathberry pieces with embossed monograms or style their handbags with the brand’s exclusive silk twill scarves. To mark the opening, Strathberry has designed a limited-edition silk scarf, featuring an intricate illustration print inspired by the distinctive architecture of Victoria Street—a fitting tribute to the city that has shaped the brand’s identity.

A Homecoming for Strathberry

For co-founder Leeanne Hundleby, opening on Victoria Street is a moment of pride. “We’re thrilled to be opening Strathberry on Victoria Street in our hometown of Edinburgh where we founded the brand. This is a special location in the renowned Old Town area, surrounded by the beautiful architecture of the city which has inspired so many of our designs. The space forms a place to celebrate the appreciation for authentic craftsmanship, beautiful detail, and meaningful culture. I’m excited to have the opportunity to connect with our customers in this warm and inviting space, filled with the rich heritage and art that defines our city.”

The Victoria Street boutique officially opened its doors on 20th February, joining Strathberry’s other locations in London’s Burlington Arcade and Covent Garden. Whether you’re a long-time admirer of the brand or discovering it for the first time, this new boutique promises an immersive experience—where artistry, heritage, and luxury come together in perfect harmony.
