Uniqlo's Scottish Expansion + New Creative Director Announced
Uniqlo has been making waves on Scotland’s high street since opening its Edinburgh flagship in April. And with a Glasgow store set to open soon at St Enoch’s Square, the hunt for the perfect white tee just got easier. For those yet to embrace the Japanese brand’s minimalist appeal, exciting news: Uniqlo has named British designer Clare Waight Keller as its new creative director.
Best known for her time at luxury houses Givenchy and Chloé, Waight Keller debuted her first collection for Uniqlo last year with the “Uniqlo: C” sub-label. This autumn, she continues with a fresh collection of British-inspired staples, including wool-blend overcoats and quilted barn jackets - arriving Thursday 5th September.
Uniqlo, famous for its affordable basics, is deepening its connection with the luxury fashion world through collaborations with designers like J.W. Anderson, Jil Sander, and Marni. Waight Keller’s appointment signals a bold new chapter for the brand’s core collections, with her influence extending across both men’s and women’s ranges from Autumn/Winter 2024. Expect a fresh take on everyday classics, elevated by high-end design sensibilities.
Scotland’s high street just got a whole lot more stylish.
