Setting the scene for the New Year celebration, guests can expect to enjoy the very best from Scotland's most northerly luxury destination. The break kicks off on arrival on the 30th with whisky blending and dinner in the stunning Courtroom Brasserie in the heart of Dornoch. Hosted by in-house expert, Duncan Walker, guests will create their very own blended whisky, perfect for toasting in the new year, to the traditional sounds of Scottish folk music.
NYE day requires plenty of rest and relaxation and lots of time to prepare for the evening’s festivities. Enjoy an easy day of seasonal movies enjoyed in the comfort of Links House or quiet reading time in the library. Or for those looking for fresh air and stunning views there are plenty of those too. Oh, and did we mention golf? There’s the little matter of a world renowned course, right on the doorstep.
After a disco nap and clad in finery, guests meet in the The Anteroom for champagne and canapes, followed by the main event, the New Year's Eve six-course-tasting menu in the famed MARA restaurant, expect a feast of Scottish seafood and local produce.
Then it’s time for a real Scottish Ceilidh and some lively traditional music. A Piper and Champagne toast will mark midnight and for those with room a tasty bowl of venison stovies.
Those brave (or bonkers) enough can take part in Dornoch's Loony Dook, with the beach only a short stroll from the hotel (and lots of cosy housecoats and towels provided), whilst those preferring a slower start can enjoy a Bloody Mary brunch, followed by a relaxed, family-style dinner in MARA that evening.
