Katherine Ryan Returns to the Capital

Katherine Ryan, there is an honesty and realness to the Canadian comedy performer that you either love or you don’t. And we do. She’s sparky yet vulnerable and refreshingly open about almost every topic that affects modern women, oh and there’s that amazing sense of personal style. Girl knows how to have fun with her fashion. And let’s be honest, she’s funny. She has the ability to make us snort and giggle like schoolgirls. Because that’s what Ryan is, one of the girls.

Everything is up for discussion, literally no holds barred; from her career, to cosmetic surgery, single motherhood, and female friendships, misogyny, sex, cancel culture, and her encounters with cancer. And having publicly sworn off men, falling in love, with her childhood sweetheart, after a chance encounter…you couldn’t make this stuff up. As she revealed to Jonathan Ross, “I went for a night out with my sister and bumped into my first love, Bobby – we dated for about a year when I was fifteen and then we split.

“I’m in an old jumper, he looked like a full blood Hemsworth brother, just hot…I hadn’t seen him in 20 years.”

Fortunately, the “old jumper” didn’t put him off and the couple rekindled their relationship. The family of Bobby, Ryan and her daughter Violet was joined recently by baby Frederick meaning even more has changed for Ryan.
So, with plenty of material from her brand-new life including the success of her Netflix smash hit The Duchess (along with two global Netflix comedy specials: In Trouble and Glitter Room), Ryan makes her return to the capital with her brand-new live show, Missus, at the Edinburgh Playhouse on Saturday 28th May.

Expect to hear Ryan’s new perspectives on life, love, and what it means to be a Missus, we can’t wait!
