Beach Hut pop-up opens in North Berwick
Sun (hopefully), sea, sand, good food and chilled drinks… What more could you want this summer? Luckily you don’t have to head off to the Med to enjoy those things, as a brand new beachside pop-up has just opened in the coastal town of North Berwick.
The team behind the popular Herringbone restaurants in North Berwick and Edinburgh have recently launched their latest venture, a pop-up bar, restaurant and spritz garden called Beach Hut.
Taking over the closed County Hotel in North Berwick, the Beach Hut pop-up will celebrate life by the sea with a menu of local fish, meat and vegetarian dishes in a beachy-street food concept.
Food is served in eco-friendly Vegware box packaging, allowing a beachside feel whether dining indoors or out. Innovative dishes such as tubs of cockle popcorn and steamed bao buns filled with teriyaki salmon or hoisin jackfruit will sit alongside seaside classics like sustainable fish and chips with a caper guacamole, or shell-on garlic prawns followed by prosecco pops or Lucas ice cream.
The team are keen to celebrate the summer, so are encouraging visitors to make use of the extensive outdoor space and beach hut bar. Slushy cocktails, a selection of spritzes and non alcoholic fizzes will share the bar with a few coastal wines from around the world and draught local and international beers. Working with close local neighbours Steampunk, Beach Hut will also pour simple coffees from the best roastery around.
Ash Bairstow, operations director at Beach Hut says: “We have an amazing community spirit in North Berwick and look forward to the opportunity of opening this great outdoor space, injecting some life into the old bar and restaurant, and creating a new food and drink offer not available in the area. Bringing our take on street food (or beach food) from our travels and adventures, we are keen to complement the already burgeoning food and drink scene in North Berwick.”
Beach Hut is now open at 15 High Street, North Berwick, EH39 4HH, from 12pm until late every Wednesday to Sunday throughout summer.
