Experience Surprise and Delight at The Store, Restoration Yard

In Partnership with Restoration Yard

From statement fashion pieces and delicious foodie treats to standout homeware finds and super thoughtful gifts - The Store at Restoration Yard is a carefully curated emporium full of unusual treasures to covet yourself or treat those you love. It’s certainly not your usual run-of-the-mill gift shop found nestled in a beautiful Scottish country park.

Sisi Gibreel, who as head of creative at Dalkeith Country Park, oversees the buying of all the clever treats to be found inside The Store, says: “Restoration Yard has always been about creating an element of surprise and delight. That’s what myself and The Store team try to do every day. Whether it’s creating beautiful window displays, picking up a new fashion label or choosing to give out free gifts to our customers in our regular ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ events, we want visitors to The Store to leave us feeling that they’ve enjoyed a shopping experience that is out of the ordinary.”

Never a store to rest on its laurels, Sisi and her team are always thinking of ways to improve, move things around to optimise a store that is actually nestled in an 18th century stables and always give that element of newness. Here’s a round-up of what to expect on a current trip inside this award-winning store.

New For Autumn

Get your head into the new season at The Store. Sisi is excited by all the collections now winging their way in: “Buying for autumn is always slightly less about brights and more about richer tones in solid colours.

“I’m really excited about the knitwear brands we have coming in, especially some beautiful knitwear from Danish brand Dawn X Dare. Each little wonder in the collection is created by one of 90 Italian women knitting or crocheting by hand in their homes in southern Tuscany. We also have beautiful statement knits by French cashmere label Madluv

“Standouts for autumn will be gorgeous Boho Chic quilted jackets and waistcoats by Maison Hotel and really fun footwear from Merry People. Collections that customers will adore include Hod Paris, Maison Anje and Vilagallo. We will continue with bestsellers like our gorgeous raincoats from Tanta.

Necklaces from Pranella are the must-haves customers are adoring at The Store

“In terms of accessories, current loves include beautiful boho, hippy-style beads from a new label for us - Pranella. Customers are loving the long necklaces as they complete that laidback feel that our people want from us. So Pranella will continue for autumn too.”

Transform your look with the addition of a little jewellery.

“It’s easy to transform your whole look with the addition of a little jewellery. Adorn your wrists with sweet bracelets to add colour,” says Sisi of current collections. She adds: ‘Exciting news for autumn is we have picked up the most gorgeous French collection, Julie Sion. Expect the unexpected. There are statement earrings with pretty beading and even pretty little cameo detailing that embrace that Bridgerton feel.”

The Beauty Hall is filed with gorgeous smelling treats for yourself and for gifting others.

Beauty at The Store

The scent that greets you as you walk into the atrium of The Store is of beautiful soaps and bath salts from a handpicked selection of beauty brands, including Restoration Yard’s own brand collection, which has recently expanded to include shampoos and conditioners. These delights are made in partnership with leading sustainable lifestyle specialists. Pick up the perfect gift for a friend, or indulge yourself. A little pampering in the form of a delicious rose or lemon scented bath oil is one of life’s joys.

Colours in homeware have moved on from muted tones to pastel colours with injections of brights.

Homeware at The Store

“In homeware we’ve moved away from the muted Scandi mood that has been so strong for several seasons,” explains Sisi.” The mood is now much more colourful but in soft pastels with accents of bolder brights.”

Throw a J-line cushion on your sofa, inside or out, to update your decor for summer

Summer Homeware

“The current vibe is very much about bringing that summer holiday feel to your home and to your table. Choose a quirky cushion from J-line to lift your sofa from just-so to oh-so-now. Bring in statement glassware from Chic Antique. Or add an inside-to-outside and back again look with a Walton & Co rug.

Sisi adds: “There are some gorgeous finds in the Sale across our best homeware brands while it is on so it’s definitely worth a trip in store.”

Homeware for Autumn

“Homeware brands that we love right now will continue into the new season. So expect more of the gorgeous pops of colour that come from Musango, Pip Studio and House of Disaster. Also, everyone loves the comforting nostalgia that the retro style mugs and tins of Rex London. So expect a little more of that in-store in coming weeks,” Sisi enthuses.

The Foodhall at The Store

The Foodhall at the store is a must-visit and it’s expanding to give even more space for delicious savoury treats, luxurious chocolates and sweet gifts for all tastes.

“We are really embracing people’s desire for good, healthy, organic foods. We’ve expanded our ever-popular Italian offer of pastas and sauces, adding Biona Organic alongside our Tenuta Marmorelle collection. We’re also encouraging ‘making your own’ in terms of sauces and pizzas but also in bread making and now have a range of healthy flours you can pick up in-store.

Oh and people are loving our locally sourced soft cheeses from Yester Farm Dairies,” Sisi enthuses, adding: “Our offer from Cook has expanded with even more delicious meals for special occasions or even simply easy options for a family dinners, which our customers are loving.
