For all Scamp & Dude’s mood boosting colours and happy prints it’s the strap-line ‘from something dark came something light’, that really reveals the true essence of the brand. When founder Jo Tutchener-Sharp was forced into a lengthy stay in hospital for life saving brain surgery the nugget of the idea of Scamp & Dude started to grow. Her brush with death, and missing her children, made Jo determined to do something that gave back. And that’s where Scamp & Dude’s mission was formed. Jo wanted to create a brand that helps children feel more secure by filling them with superpowers when apart from their loved ones.
Since its launch in 2016, Scamp & Dude has used every moment to be a force for good. It’s a B Corp certified company with a rating of 103.5 and it remains committed to continual improvement. The stats speak volumes about the company’s dedication:
84% of Scamp & Dude loungewear is made with organic cotton
80% of its dresses are made with sustainable materials or wash processes
Scamp & Dude jeans save 44 litres of water each vs the industry standard
71% of its latest collection was made using sustainable materials or wash processes
£1.7 million cash donations to charity
In 2024 the brand launched its #SuperScarfMission with the aim of donating over 60,000 Super Scarves to women starting chemo treatment across the UK. For each Superhero Sleep Buddy sold, another is donated to a child who has lost a parent or is seriously ill themselves. Also, with its ‘Lucky Pants’ underwear collection, for every pack sold, another pair of Lucky Pants is donated to someone with a life-threatening illness via its long-standing hospital partners, helping to bring a moment of comfort and courage.
So yes, when you shop Scamp & Dude, whether in its new Edinburgh store or online, you are getting feel-good fashion but you’re also doing good for people and the planet.
