Refreshing Green Smoothie Recipe

It’s Wellness Wednesday so what better way to start the day as we mean to go on than by swapping our morning coffee for a nutrient-packed smoothie?

Smoothies offer a natural energy boost without the caffeine crash, and they can be tailored to include a variety of vitamins, minerals, and other beneficial nutrients. Starting the day with a smoothie not only hydrates the body but also provides a convenient way to consume a balanced mix of fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats. Here’s a simple and delicious green smoothie recipe to kickstart your morning. It’s also a great way to use up fruit that’s on the turn—see those freckled bananas in the bowl? Those!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh spinach leaves (30g)

  • 1 ripe banana

  • 1/2 cup frozen pineapple chunks (70g)

  • 1/2 cup frozen mango chunks (80g)

  • 1/2 avocado

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk or any milk of your choice (240ml)

  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds

  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)

  • Ice cubes (optional, for a thicker smoothie)

Method

In a blender, add the spinach leaves, banana, pineapple, mango, avocado, almond milk, and chia seeds. If you prefer a sweeter smoothie, add honey or maple syrup.

Blend on high until the mixture is smooth and creamy. If you like your smoothie thicker, add a few ice cubes and blend again.

Pour the smoothie into a glass, go stand barefoot on the grass and enjoy.

This green smoothie is not only tasty but also rich in vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats, making it an excellent choice for breakfast or a mid-day snack.
