Sweet Love: Edinburgh's Coco Chocolatier releases 'Love Is Simple' collection in time for Valentine's Day

Those with a sweet tooth will love this news: Edinburgh-based chocolatier, COCO, has announced the launch of a delicious new collection of sweet treats, ‘Love Is Simple’, just in time for Valentine’s Day on February 14th.

The latest in the brand’s ‘The Art of Chocolate’ series, where COCO invites contemporary artists to collaborate on exclusive packaging designs, the ‘Love Is Simple’ collection is designed in collaboration with East Lothian-based artist and signwriter, Thomas Payne. The result is three beautiful chocolate box collections, housing COCO’s beloved bars and truffles, all decorated in Payne’s signature gold leaf style, combining artistic value with high-quality chocolate and celebrating COCO’s long-held affinity with contemporary art and design. COCO prides itself on using its product to join the international art conversation, enveloping its ethically-made chocolate in designs by established and emerging artists, from all over the world.

Calum Haggerty, COCO’s Director, told us, “This collection is a homage to our greatest passions, chocolate and art, portraying the essential relationship between the two that is present in all of our work. We chose to feature Thomas’ designs on our Love Is Simple Collection because of the sophisticated, yet contemporary, nature of his work. We’re very pleased with the results of this collaboration”.

And Thomas Payne, the artist behind the designs (and behind many shopfronts in Edinburgh!), said: “Being a sign-writer, I use the finest gold leaf to mirror glass and apply to shopfronts. It denotes quality. Applying gold foil on this collaboration with COCO was the natural choice. In turn, simple visuals to convey a message is as important as the chosen finish. Love is simple”.

There are three delicious options to choose from in the new ‘Love Is Simple’ collection - Team Hood couldn’t possibly pick a favourite! Traditionalists will love the Milk collection, which contains six bars of delicious milk chocolate, including Colombian Plain Milk, Orange, Lavender, Rhubarb & Ginger, Isle of Skye Sea Salt Milk and Salted Caramel. Discerning chocolate lovers, and vegans with a sweet tooth, will be impressed with the Dark collection, allowing them to indulge in six bars of COCO’s darkest and finest, including Isle of Skye Sea Salt, Earl Grey Tea, Cold Brew Coffee, Passion Fruit, Gin & Tonic and Colombian Plain Dark Chocolate. And for some real indulgence, there’s the Truffle collection, containing twenty soft-centred dark chocolate truffles with a sophisticated hint of caramel, vanilla and Isle of Skye sea salt.
