Three festive cocktail recipes for Christmas Eve
The holidays are finally here and it’s time to get fully in the Christmas spirit. And what better way to do that than with a festive cocktail? These recipes are all quick and easy to make at home, whether you’re entertaining guests this Christmas Eve or just fancy a treat for yourself.
Clementine fizz
Make the most of sweet and juicy clementines at this time of year with a sparkling citrus cocktail. Juice your own clementines for the freshest flavour, or buy a bottle if you want to keep things quick and simple.
Ingredients:
Juice of 1 clementine (approx 30ml)
15ml vodka
15ml Cointreau
Prosecco
Method:
Add the clementine juice, vodka and Cointreau to a flute glass and stir. Top up with chilled prosecco and garnish with a slice of clementine and a sprig of thyme.
Bourbon, honey and fig sour
This twist on a whisky sour is the perfect mix of sweet and sour, made grown-up with the addition of figs. Make your own honey syrup ahead of time by gently simmering equal parts of honey and water in a pan until reduced.
Ingredients:
50ml bourbon
1 tablespoon fig preserves
15ml honey simple syrup
15ml lemon juice
Dash of egg white
Method:
Add ice to a cocktail shaker, along with all the ingredients. Shake well then strain into a martini glass. Garnish with sliced fresh figs and a sprig of thyme.
Cranberry and ginger sparkler
With just four ingredients, this cocktail couldn’t be simpler to make. Refreshing and seasonal, it’s ideal for sipping on Christmas Eve as you finish wrapping the last of the presents.
Ingredients:
50ml gin
100ml cranberry juice
10ml sugar syrup
Ginger ale
Method:
Add the gin, cranberry juice and sugar syrup to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake well. Strain into a highball glass filled with ice, and top with ginger ale.
