Five Whisky Cocktails to Shake Up this Weekend

Whatever the weather, these summer cocktails from Tomatin Distillery are sure to bring some sunshine to your weekend. Offering fresh and unusual flavour combinations, these concoctions prove that Scotland’s national drink can be enjoyed in more ways than one…

Iced T.E.A.

A combination of Tomatin Legacy, chilled Earl Grey tea and clear apple juice, this long, refreshing cocktail is perfect for cooling down on a hot day - it’s the ideal partner for alfreso dining.

  • 50ml Tomatin Legacy

  • 50ml Chilled Earl Grey tea

  • 50ml Clear apple juice

  • Dash peach bitters

  • Lemon wheels

  • Mint sprig and peach wedges to garnish

Pour the Tomatin Legacy over ice in a highball glass. Place two lemon wheels into the glass and then build with the chilled Earl Grey tea, clear apple juice and a dash of peach bitters. Stir and garnish with a sprig of mint and fresh peach wedge.

To reflect the softer side of the Highlands around Tomatin’s beautifully picturesque distillery, their expert mixologists have created a fresh twist on the classic whisky sour.

  • 50ml Tomatin 12 Year Old

  • 25ml Lemon juice

  • 12.5ml Sugar syrup

  • 25ml Pressed apple juice

  • 12 Large mint leaves

  • Red apple fan and mint sprig to garnish

Place the mint leaves into a cocktail shaker followed by the Tomatin 12 Year Old, lemon juice, sugar syup and apple juice. Fill with cubed ice, then shake vigorously to break down the mint and chill the drink. Fine strain over crushed ice into an Old Fashioned glass. Finish with a red apple fan and mint sprig.

Cherry Blossom

A beautifully crafted cocktail with sweet, floral notes, this one has been designed to reflect the magical cherry blossom season in Japan. Enjoy as a pre-dinner drink with friends this weekend - no passport required.

  • 50ml Tomatin Legacy

  • Barspoon cherry jam

  • 50ml Coconut water

  • 2ml Orange blossom water

  • Maraschino cherry to garnish

Stir down a barspoon of cherry jam with Tomatin Legacy before adding coconut water and a small amount of orange blossom water. Shake vigorously and then double strain into a chilled sours glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.

The citrus notes of Tomatin Legacy lend themselves perfectly to this tropical, punch-style cocktail. Serve it up this weekend to suitably impress your party guests with a delicious summer serve.

  • 50ml Tomatin Legacy

  • 25ml Elderflower liqueur

  • 25ml Lemon juice

  • 50ml Pineapple juice

  • Dash Angostura bitters

  • Dehydrated orange wheel and pineapple leaves to garnish

Add all the ingredients to a cocktail shaker and shake hard. Strain into an ice-filled Old Fashioned glass and garnish with a dehydrated orange wheel and pineapple leaves.

If you’re not a fan of sweet and sickly cocktails, try this refreshing creation. Full of strong, punchy flavours this cocktail is a well-rounded highball serve perfect for any occasion.

In a highball glass, fill with ice and add each ingredient. Stir to combine and garnish with a lemon slice and fresh thyme.
